"Inclusive" women’s march bans pro-life feminists

New Wave Feminists say they plan to be at the march anyway.

Organisers of the Women's March on Washington, which takes place the day after Donald Trump's inauguration, has dropped one of its partner organisations...for being pro-life.

New Wave Feminists were briefly listed as an official partner of the march, alongside organisations such as Planned Parenthood and NARAL Pro-Choice. However, they were removed from the list, apparently following a social media outcry when their inclusion was published on The Atlantic.

"The Women's March platform is pro-choice and that has been our stance from day one. We want to assure all of our partners, as well as participants, that we are pro-choice as clearly stated in our Unity Principles...the anti-choice organization in question is not a partner of the Women's March on Washington. We apologize for this error," the Women's March official statement read.

Inclusive?

Advertising for the march has described it as "inclusive" and celebrating "diversity" but it appears that this doesn't extend to pro-life women. (Erika Bachiochi, a visiting fellow at the Ethics and Public Policy Centre, has written an interesting piece for CNN explaining the pro-life feminist position).

SPUC researcher Fiorella Nash said:

"This decision to exclude a pro-life feminist group is sadly typical of the growing insularity within contemporary feminism, which seeks to exclude any woman who fails to submit to a non-negotiable doctrine of womanhood. It is the height of hypocrisy for any movement to claim that it believes in giving women a voice, only to bully and silence women who dare to dissent."
