The final group photo.
This past weekend a record 200 young people gathered from across the UK to listen to inspirational pro-life speakers, make new friends and learn how to reinvigorate the pro-life movement.
The keynote speaker was Dr Tony Levatino, an Obstetrician and Gynaecologist who performed abortions for eight years before he stopped in 1985, and became an inspirational pro-life advocate. Delegates listened with horror as he described the grisly process of a late term abortion, of which he performed over 1200. He also passed around the instruments which are used in the procedure.

Other highlights of the conference included the ever popular Fiorella Nash speaking on pro-life feminism and Alexandra Tompson explaining the problem with screening for Down's syndrome. Dr Joseph Meaney gave an inspiring closing speech, telling the young people: "if you are not involved in the pro-life movement, you are not part of the greatest human rights campaign of our time".
The conference attendees also had a chance to take part in workshops, and to hear about the great work being done by SPUC Scotland through Project Truth, and at the March for Life. There was also plenty of time to meet other young people, talk to all the people running stalls, and, of course, dance at the ceilidh!
What did the attendees think?
We've already had a lot of positive feedback about from the young people. Rocio, who travelled from Spain said "I'll just say that the 2005km we traveled were totally worth it!" Another attendee wrote in to say:
"It was the first time in a long time I felt comfortable among people. So good to see that my views aren't completely bonkers and that there are others who are Catholic, pro-life and not ashamed. I feel energised to take on the culture of death in a direct way."
Ettore liked the conference so much that he wrote a whole blog on it. He concluded by saying:
"I can confirm I did not regret attending the Youth SPUC Conference after my long and tiring week and I strongly advise any young Pro-lifer to go, you will not regret it. It's great fun, teaches you loads, you make friends and equips you to fight for life. I cannot recommend it enough."
That seems to about sum it up - enjoy the photos and videos!
