Fiona Bruce MP was one of the signatories to the amendment
Pro-life MPs have sought to devolve abortion laws to Scotland.
A cross-party amendment to the Scotland Bill signed by MPs John Pugh, Fiona Bruce and Robert Flello would give the Scottish Parliament the power to make its own abortion laws. The amendment was not put to the vote but was debated by MPs. Anti-life and women's rights groups signed a joint statement objecting to the move.
However, Conservative MP Sir Edward Leigh said any "self-respecting parliament" should be allowed to deal with such issues. [Herald Scotland, 6 July]
