Turkish President condemns contraception

"To make our nation stronger, we need a more dynamic and younger population"

Recep Tayyip Erdogan has condemned the promotion of contraception as"treason", saying it threatens to "dry up our generation".

The Turkish President said at a wedding ceremony, "To make our nation stronger, we need a more dynamic and younger population. We need this to take Turkey above the level of modern civilisations," and added that "One [child] means loneliness, two means rivalry, three means balance and four means abundance. And God takes care of the rest." [22 December, NDTV]
