Over the weekend The Sunday Times published the news that an Italian woman had been sent to London to have an abortion. The woman was 28 weeks pregnant with a child with a non-threatening brain abnormality. Abortion is illegal in Italy after the first trimester except when the mother’s life is in danger. The woman then flew home from London, her baby having been killed by injection, to give birth back in Italy. Leading obstetricians have decried the incident as irresponsible and dangerous and the Italian gynaecologist who sent the woman to England has been sacked.[ProLife.org.uk, 10 October] http://goo.gl/IGJwv
