Down’s Syndrome Association
The Down's Syndrome Association provides information, counselling and support for people with Down's syndrome, their families and carers.
In a 2015 policy statement on pre-natal genetic testing, the charity stated: "The Down's Syndrome Association does not believe that Down's syndrome in itself a reason for termination. People with Down's syndrome can and do lead full and rewarding lives."
While it maintains a neutral position on termination and "supports the people involved whatever their personal decision" the association insists that up-to-date and unbiased information be provided to the parents so that they are aware "of the challenges and joys of having a child with Down's syndrome, and that those who choose to do so are given the skills, knowledge and support to assist their child to achieve his or her potential."
