The Motor Neurone Disease Association works to provide care, support and research for people suffering from Motor Neurone disease. This charity is a member of the AMRC.
In a statement on embryonic stem-cell research released in July 2005, the association asserted "in principle we will support stem cell research, as long as we are satisfied that it is legal, has a sound scientific rationale and has the potential to bring us closer to treatments and/or a cure for MND."
In response to the resignation of a scientist who worked on human cloning for research in 2005, the charity stated "we believe the scientific rationale behind therapeutic cloning is sound, and that it still offers a significant opportunity for achieving a breakthrough in research into MND and other degenerative conditions."
