SPUC Youth Conference 2015

Posted by Rhoslyn Thomas on 13 March 2015

Many delegates had travelled from as far as Dundee or Cornwall (with a journey of 14 hours) and two delegates had come all the way from Spain in order to attend the Youth Conference.

One of the Glasgow midwives, Mary Doogan, brought the conference close to tears with the first talk of the weekend as she spoke of her 7-year struggle to be allowed to abstain from any involvement in abortion.

Many of the young people who attended said that Obianuju Ekeocha’s talk, entitled ‘From Opposing Slavery to Opposing Abortion : our thirst and quest for Justice in the modern world’ was their favourite talk of the conference. Obianuju is one of the founding members of Culture of Life Africa who invite "…all people of good will (Africans and all good Friends of Africa) to join us in disscussing and dissuading the radical reformers from the massive destructive cultural shift that they are trying to trigger in Africa."

His Eminence, Raymond Leo Cardinal Burke, delivered a talk entitled ‘The New Evangelisation of the Fallen Christian West’, which covered a range of topics. Many delegates had the opportunity to meet the Cardinal and to speak with him before and after his talk. Cardinal Burke had also delivered a talk at an event organised by Voice of the Family in Chester the evening before (the 6th of March) and also celebrated Mass the following day in New Brighton and in Ramsgate on Monday the 9th of March.
