Inspiring video of mother told she should have aborted her son

Scroll down to watch a video which tells the inspiring story of Lacey Buchanan, a young mother who shortly after learning she was pregnant, learned that her child had disabilities.
Her son Christian was born with a Tessier cleft, a severe type of cleft lip and palate that is characterised by severe deformities of soft tissue and bony parts of the face.
The description for the video on YouTube says:
People ask her why she didn't choose to abort her boy. They stare at both of them. They talk behind their back. But none of that matters because this mother knows that her boy is beautiful just the way he is.
And on one of the cards held aloft by Lacey during the video it reads:
One girl even told me I was a horrible person for not aborting Christian in utero.
Eugenic abortion of the disabled is commonplace in America. It is estimated that 90% or more of children diagnosed in the womb with Down syndrome or cystic fybrosis will be aborted.
In the UK the abortion regulations were liberalised through the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Act 1990 allowing disabled babies to be aborted up until birth. Since then, doctors have cited disabilities such as spina bifida and cleft palate as 'serious abnormalities' justifying late-term abortions.
These legal and cultural trends have created an environment where there is not only pressure on mothers to abort their children, but an expectancy for them to do so if the child is disabled. Not only are the rights of disabled children ignored, but those who would defend them are maligned and told they are doing them a disservice.
However, what is clear from the response this video has received is that both Lacey's courage to buck today's eugenic cultural trends and her joyous love of her child are very appealing. The video was initially uploaded onto YouTube and then to Godtube, a Christian video sharing website, and in the first five days of it being online was viewed more than 40,000 times.
The Daily Mail published the video last week, along with an interview with Lacey. It has now gone viral, with more than a million views on YouTube alone. What the interest in this video shows is that our society desperately needs and clearly wants to see the witness of people such as Lacey and Christian. Yes, many people have seen this video, but many who might benefit from seeing this video won't see it unless you send it to them. Please share this video with your friends and contacts.
