Coroner asked to take action after young mum kills herself after abortion

London, : The UK's main pro-life group has written to the coroner in the case of a young mother who committed suicide after having an abortion.

Jade Rees, 21, from Oldham, Greater Manchester, hanged herself three weeks after her abortion, leaving a handwritten note saying that she was suffering after the experience: https://www.spuc.org.uk/tragedy-as-student-21-hangs-herself-following-an-abortion

The Society for the Protection of Unborn Children (SPUC) says that there are serious questions to answer for the doctors who approved Jade’s abortion papers. What was their justification for believing, "in good faith", that abortion would pose a lesser risk to her health than the abortion which led to her suicide? SPUC has asked the coroner in the case to take action.

Jade's story also has parallels with the case of Emma Beck, who hanged herself the day before her 31st birthday in February 2007 after aborting her baby twins when she was eight weeks pregnant: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/1579455/Artist-hanged-herself-after-aborting-her-twins.html

Just last month, details emerged of a 15-year-old girl who committed suicide two years after having an abortion when she was just 13. Ashli Blake jumped to her death from a tower in the New Forest in September 2014: http://www.lifenews.com/2016/03/11/15-year-old-girl-kills-herself-two-years-after-getting-an-abortion/

Stories like those of Jade, Emma, Ashli, and many others are a reminder that abortion hurts women.
