LONDON, : The British Medical Association's decision to remain opposed to assisted suicide has been welcomed by SPUC Pro-Life, a leading anti-euthanasia group.

Paul Tully, SPUC Pro-Life's General Secretary, commented: "We welcome the BMA's vote against assisting people to commit suicide. The vote shows that most doctors do not accept that killing their vulnerable patients is compatible with being a doctor."
Mr Tully added: "Campaigners for the rights of the disabled must not rest on their laurels, even after the sound defeat of Rob Marris MP's bill last November. We must continue to speak out against propaganda which tries to sanitise assisted suicide, euthanasia and infanticide."
