Northampton primary school suspends sex education following concern from parents : Caroline Chisolm primary school in Northampton has sent a letter to parents announcing that it is suspending sex education lessons this term following a public meeting during which local parents were told how the sexually-explicit teaching programmes children effectively prime for sex.
Antonia Tully of the Safe at School campaign was invited to speak at the meeting which was organised by a local mother, Emma Clarke.
Mrs Clarke has removed her own child from another primary school over this issue.
Mrs Clarke said: "Parents who attended our meeting were so shocked to discover what the school were planning to show their children (and already have in previous years). We plan to hold more local public meetings around the county to raise awareness amongst parents, we're also setting up a facebook page and website."
The day after the meeting Caroline Chisholm primary school issued this statement to parents: "To enable the school an adequate amount of time to consider feedback from parents we have taken the decision to suspend any teaching of Sex&Relationships education. We will review our current scheme of work in the autumn term."
