SPUC welcomes archbishop's opposition to abortion advertising London, Friday, April 10, 2009 - The Society for the Protection of Unborn Children (SPUC) has welcomed a statement by the archbishop-elect of Westminster on proposals to advertise abortion and birth control on television.
John Smeaton, SPUC national director, said: "I warmly welcome the archbishop's statement which a delighted fellow-parishioner told me about when I was going into church for a Good Friday service. I am certain that many Catholics and non-Catholics will respond to the archbishop's call to oppose ads for abortion and condoms on TV."
Most Rev Vincent Nichols is to move from Birmingham upon the retirement of Cardinal Cormac Murphy O'Connor.
