MPs must reject more abortion on 22 October

MPs must reject more abortion on 22 October London, - Thousands of people around the country are urging their MPs to vote against pro-abortion amendments when the Human Fertilisation and Embryology bill returns to the House of Commons on Wednesday 22 October. Radical pro-abortion MPs have tabled amendments that will impose British abortion law on Northern Ireland, threaten pro- life pregnancy counsellors and limit the scope of conscientious objections to abortion.

Other amendments would lead to nurses and midwives being enlisted to undertake abortions - to avoid the expense and difficulties of getting doctors to provide them.

Other amendments would lead to abortions in family doctors' surgeries, and to fast-tracking women through the abortion mill. Anthony Ozimic, SPUC political secretary, commented: "The ugly reality of what the pro-abortion movement really wants is revealed in these extremist amendments. The elected representatives of the people of Northern Ireland have said repeatedly that abortion is wrong and therefore British abortion law should not be extended to their Province. Yet the pro-abortion lobby is prepared to jeopardise the chance of a permanent constitutional settlement in Northern Ireland in order to see more unborn children killed. "Abortion is neither good clinical practice nor a genuine medical treatment. The family doctor's surgery should be a place of peaceful reassurance for mothers, not a centre of death for unborn children. "These sickening proposals are being attached to a fundamentally unethical bill promoting junk science. Any MP who wishes to see fewer abortions and better ethics in law must vote against both the pro-abortion amendments at report stage as well as the whole bill at third reading."
