SPUC and KSC launch joint Rosary for the Unborn campaign

The KSC's prioritisation of the right to life is a boost for SPUC

Last Wednesday saw the launch of a new joint initiative between the Society for the Protection of Unborn Children and the Knights of St Columba (KSC).

SPUC is an educational and campaigning body, not a religious group. However, as many SPUC supporters are people of faith we unashamedly encourage their initiatives. For that reason, SPUC was delighted when the KSC asked the Society to join with them to promote a spiritual campaign to mark their centenary year.

Pro-life intentions for the year

Rosary for the Unborn was launched on the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe (Patroness of the Unborn), in the presence of Archbishop Edward Joseph Adams, the papal nuncio.

Each month throughout 2019 members of SPUC and the KSC will be praying the rosary in front of the Blessed Sacrament in parishes throughout Britain. There is a special pro-life intention for every month.

Churches around Scotland, England and Wales are already responding to this call to pray for the unborn. Throughout the year there will be reminders of the initiative. 28th December 2018 - the Feast of the Holy Innocents - is proposed as an ideal day for people to start the campaign in their church.

A boost for SPUC

SPUC Deputy CEO John Deighan said: "We are very encouraged with this partnership initiative with the Knights. They are a wonderful organisation and their prioritisation of the right to life during their centenary year is a boost for SPUC's work. Abortion is the greatest destroyer of life the world has ever known, and the more organisations that make it a top priority, the sooner will come the day when we restore laws that respect every human life."
