A woman, who changed her mind after taking the first abortion drug and underwent abortion pill reversal is now a pro-life advocate and has spoken out against abortion. She said: “I should never have been able to take my son’s life.”
Rita was eight weeks pregnant when she began a chemical abortion to terminate her child’s life. She had taken the first abortion drug, mifepristone, and began hemorrhaging heavily during her journey home from the abortion clinic.
Due to the harm caused by the chemical abortion drug, Rita was hospitalized and required blood transfusions. It was then discovered that the first abortion drug intended to kill her child had not been ‘effective’ and her baby still had a heartbeat.
Rita decided to undergo a procedure known as abortion pill reversal and the life of her unborn child was saved.
“He like all other babies deserves life.”
Rita is now fervently pro-life and her son is just over one year old.
Rita has recently expressed her joy on social media. She said “He’s 15 months old now and is the sweetest, happiest and most beautiful little boy I have ever laid my eyes on!
“God was truly with me, and now I see why, my son’s my biggest blessing.
“I should have never been able to take my son’s life. And seeing him here today is such a blessing! He’s a radiant soul with a happy, laughing, and smiley energy that radiates a room! He, like all other babies, deserves life!”
Offering a second chance: Abortion pill reversal
Some women may change their minds about proceeding with abortion even after Mifepristone has been taken. Many women seek assistance to help them preserve their unborn children. Medical treatment to help them, using Progesterone, is available.
When effective, Progesterone inhibits the effects of Mifepristone, preventing abortion from taking place in many cases.
Speaking to SPUC, Dr Dermot Kearney said: “If she [a pregnant woman] changes her mind after taking Mifepristone and seeks help, receiving Progesterone in a timely manner within 72 hours after taking Mifepristone, there is a 64-68% chance that the pregnancy will successfully continue to term.
“Most of the information currently available on Progesterone-based abortion “reversal” treatment comes from experience in the USA where it has been available for many years. It is not truly “abortion reversal” but rather “abortion preventative” treatment.
“It is estimated that, to date, it has helped to preserve the lives of hundreds of babies who might otherwise have died by abortion. The treatment is also safe for both the developing foetus and the mother.”
