After the announcement of further Coronavirus restrictions and the decision to cancel the 2021 Youth Conference, SPUC’s Youth department launched an exciting new initiative, UNIfied.
UNIfied is a series of online talks for university students and young adults between the ages of 18-30. The seminars are an opportunity for pro-life people, from all across the UK, to hear some of the most informative and inspiring speakers in the pro-life movement.
UNIfied presentations are delivered online and SPUC is excited that this series will continue throughout 2021. Attendees are provided with a short presentation from a range of guest speakers and have an opportunity to take part in an exclusive Q&A session. The online sessions are a fantastic opportunity for all those student societies that are struggling to meet up due to ongoing COVID-19 restrictions. We hope that UNIfied provides young pro-life people with the opportunity to be educated, inspired, and empowered to continue spreading the culture of life, even in these testing times.
Last week, we kick-started our series with renowned activist and founder of New Wave Feminists: Destiny Herndon De La Rosa. Destiny provided a dynamic presentation where she discussed the concept of a ‘consistent life ethic’ and how true feminism is only compatible with the pro-life stance. She encouraged attendees to become actively involved with supporting women who may become pressured towards abortion.
The Line Up
SPUC are gearing up for the weeks ahead when more international speakers are due to present.
Margaret Akers, SPUC (Scotland) Campaign Research Officer will be delivering a bonus workshop on the most critical pro-life activity of 2020; responding to the Scottish Government’s consultation on DIY abortion.
Elijah Thompson founder of the online platform Dank Pro-Life Memes and host of The Fetal Position Podcast will be delivering his presentation in November entitled ‘Friendly Persuasion.’ Mr Thompson will be discussing how current culture can be utilised to influence people towards the pro-life position. Influence, persuasion and impact are Mr Thompsons strengths and have allowed him to build a colossal following and social media support base.
Stephanie Gray Connors, Canadian activist and founder of The Canadian Centre for Bioethical Reform and Love Unleashes Life will be addressing the ‘power of storytelling’ which she is internationally renowned for.
Finally, SPUC is thrilled to round up the 2020 series with a presentation from Kelsey Hazzard, who is the founder of Secular Pro-life. Ms Hazzard will be discussing ‘The Secular Case Against Abortion’ which will allow attendees an insight into pro-life arguments from a totally secular and non-religious viewpoint.
It is invaluable to educate young people on the diverse ways that they can help to end the culture of death and promote a culture of life. It is vital for them to find their own place in the pro-life movement by using their own unique passions, talents, and personalities. The youth team at SPUC hope that attendees find the 2020 UNIfied series a useful experience and that this will help equip the future generations with the skills and tools they need to win this war, to end abortion.
