A “strong voice for the voiceless”: Washington March moves online for 2021

The Washington March for Life has announced that it will be hosting its 2021 event on an online platform this January amidst ongoing Coronavirus restrictions.

Eden Linton, SPUC Youth and Education Officer said: “Each year a group of enthusiastic young adult SPUC Scotland supporters travel to Washington to participate in the March for Life. This is an event which provides a strong voice for the voiceless. Although we cannot be in Washington this year, we hope that the event continues to be a source of joy and hope for  many people.”

The March for Life, which was initially organized as a one-time event to oppose America’s 1974 abortion ruling, attracts pro-lifers worldwide who are willing to stand in defence of unborn children. The March is described as an “inspiring, peaceful, vibrant, and joy-filled rally” which exists to “celebrate life from the moment of conception to the moment of natural death, and every moment in between.”

Organisers of the March for Life estimate that over 800,000 pro-lifers attended the 2020 event. They have  now announced that the 2021 March for Life will be taking place virtually on January 29th and are asking pro-lifers to “stay at home” to join the rally online.

Standing in solidarity

SPUC’s Ms Linton said: “The March for Life  looks to  a future world where the dignity of every human life is valued and protected. It is truly incredible to see thousands of people each year stand together in solidarity against barbaric abortion regimes.

“The young generation recognises the violent nature of  abortion.  We have no intention of giving up. SPUC Scotland is proud to have participated in this momentous event and we wish the March for Life the best of luck in their virtual venture.”

“Pro-life pioneers”

The virtual March for Life  will take place exactly one week before the 2021 National Sanctity of Human Life Day.

National Sanctity of Human Life Day, was announced by President Donald Trump at last year’s March for life. He was the first ever US president to attend the event.

President Trump said: “Because of the devotion of countless pro-life pioneers, the call for every person to recognize the sanctity of life is resounding more loudly in America than ever before.”
