115 abortion facilities in 26 U.S. states are employing unlicensed, unqualified or untrained staff

At least 115 abortion facilities in at least 26 U.S. states are employing unlicensed, unqualified or untrained staff to provide abortion care, a report by Americans United for Life has found.

Reported state violations included: the failure to perform background checks on staff; little or no training; unlicensed staff assisting in abortion; staff obtaining consent for abortion without a license; no documentation about employees.

In one abortion facility in Florida, not a single licensed practitioner was numbered among its employees, with no nurses for patient recovery being employed either.

Another clinic in Florida committed 100 abortions without a license.

In Kentucky, numerous abortion clinics have no training or documentation for infection control, hygiene and sterilisation.

In Virginia, one staff member was conducting employee training while falsely claiming to be a doctor, and was also taking part in abortion procedures with no medical license.

SPUC comment

A SPUC spokesperson said: “The shocking negligence by abortion clinics in the United States, revealed by this damning AUL report, contradicts the standard line by the abortion industry that it cares about women.

“The criminal disregard by numerous abortion clinics – which cannot be bothered to obtain qualified and competent staff to perform abortions that can have devasting physical, as well as mental, consequences for the women involved – testifies to the true nature of a pro-abortion ethos that does not truly care about the women it purports to safeguard.

“This anti-woman, anti-care, anti-competence culture is also present in the UK, as SPUC revealed last year, when nearly two-thirds of abortion clinics were revealed to be disregarding government safety regulations.

“A society that truly cares about women would not countenance such clinics and their attendant culture of neglect.”
