Brighton abortion clinic to permanently close its doors

An abortion clinic operating in Brighton will be permanently closing its doors in 2021. Michael Robinson, SPUC Director of Communications, said: “The past year has witnessed a wave of closures for abortion clinics. Ridding these death clinics from our communities is a fantastic step forward for the pro-life community in Britain.”

The clinic on the south coast of England has been operated by abortion giant British Pregnancy Advisory Service (BPAS).

According to recent data, 3,149 unborn children were killed by abortion inside the Brighton clinic during 2019.

Brighton Hove and City Council have now confirmed the closure of the clinic, which has been placed for sale at a value of £3,000,000.

The Brighton abortion clinic fell under scrutiny during 2018 after a damning Care Quality Commission (CQC) report uncovered that the facility was failing to notify the CQC when a serious medical incident occurred.

It was also found that young girls and women presenting at the clinic were routinely put at risk as some staff “did not have any training to support their role in an emergency with young people".

SPUC’s Mr Robinson said: “Abortion clinics like this have been harming women and killing countless children for decades. It is a great relief to see these clinics finally close their doors.”

These clinics stay closed

SPUC has been reporting on the unprecedented number of abortion clinics to recently close their doors in Britain.

Earlier this year, another BPAS operated abortion clinic in Streatham, London, closed its doors and the property was placed for sale. One year previous to the clinics closure, 4,404 unborn children were killed in the facility, including 491 babies in late-term abortions at 20 weeks’ gestation or later.

The clinic was the centre of scandal in the years leading up to its closure after a CQC report uncovered serious health and safety failings, including untrained staff, safeguarding issues and broken medical equipment.

Similarly, at the beginning of 2020, five Marie Stopes abortion clinics across Birmingham and the Black Country all closed their doors over a one month period.

SPUC’s Mr Robinson added: “The closure of these abortion clinics across the past year is a great victory for the pro-life movement. It is vital that these clinics stay closed and that unborn children and their mothers are spared from the violence of abortion."
