Baby Born with No Legs and One Arm Shows Amazing Progress

A proud mother has told of how her beautiful eleven-month old baby, born with no legs and only one arm, is happy and progressing well.

Little Henry Higgs, from Harrow, was born on May 13 with amniotic band syndrome - a condition which prevents a baby’s limbs from growing properly.

His mother, Rosie Higgs, was worried about her child’s condition when she was made aware of it at her 20-week scan, but remained resolute about his future.

She recalled: “There was no doubt in my mind that I was keeping him - no matter what I was advised.”

Eleven months since his birth, she knows that she made the right decision: “He is such a happy chap and doesn’t let his disability hold him back in any way.

“He’s got a cheeky smile and he’s always laughing.

“He might not have all of his arms and legs, but he’s absolutely perfect to me.

“He’s able to pick things up without any problems which is really surprising. He’s progressing really well.”

SPUC Comment

A SPUC spokesperson said: “This wonderful story of baby Henry is a testament to the joy that a baby brings.

“His bravery and strength at such a young age serves as a lesson to all of us.

“SPUC wishes him and his loving family all the best for the future.”
