America’s ongoing cultural war over abortion is set to reach a new low this September with the publication of a book promoting abortion to children in the 8+ age range. Aimed at normalising the killing of babies, What's an Abortion, Anyway? presents abortion “as another outcome of pregnancy just like miscarriage and birth”.
During a live reading of the upcoming book, the authors claimed that:
“An abortion is when someone decides to stop growing their pregnancy. There are many different ways that people who are pregnant can have an abortion.
“Some people see a doctor who does a special procedure to remove the pregnancy from inside a person’s body. Other people take medicine to stop the pregnancy from growing bigger.”
Reported to have reached its first goal within 35 hours of being launched on the crowdfunding website, Kickstarter, its authors plan to donate copies of the book to libraries and abortion centres throughout the US. They also hope to issue a Spanish language version.
SPUC comment
A SPUC spokesperson said: “The authors of this book seek to implant in young minds the grotesque idea that their own mothers would have been entirely within their rights to kill them in the womb.
“This is a shocking message to communicate to any person, most of all to impressionable young children.
“By their own admission, they seek to ‘normalise’ the killing of the unborn and leave children thinking that abortion, miscarriage and birth are equivalent outcomes.
“This is an incredibly dangerous and destructive message.
“It is also highly dishonest to use phrases such as ‘to remove the pregnancy’ in an attempt to cover up what an abortion actually is – a violent act intended to kill a defenceless human being.
“SPUC will never cease to call out abortion for what it is. But we also need to protect school-aged children who are increasingly being targeted by the abortion industry through sex education and the type of shameless propaganda promoted by the authors of this wretched book.”
