Today marks the start of Race Equality Week 2022, a movement that “unites thousands of organisations and individuals to address racism in our society”. SPUC asks whether the abortion industry’s racial prejudice will be properly scrutinised and called out in the drive for equality.
At a recent press conference held by the research organisation CurePolicy.org, several black pro-life leaders highlighted how the abortion industry, founded on the abhorrent principles of eugenics and racism, is still guilty of these acts today.
Ryan Bomberger of the Radiance Foundation said: “We live in a society where systemic racism is blamed for every negative racial disparity, yet pro-abortion activists pretend racism doesn’t exist in the one industry that has killed millions of black lives for a living.”
Jonathan Alexandre, the Senior Counsel for Governmental Affairs at Liberty Counsel and Liberty Counsel Action, also pointed out how the abortion industry targets and profits from targeting the black community.
He said: “When we see a beautiful Black face, abortionists see a way to make a profit by killing it… When we see a beautiful black face, they see a part of town where they can build an abortion centre and find an area where they can lure in desperate mothers to terminate their pregnancy.”
Alexandre also called out Planned Parenthood’s founder, Margaret Sanger, and her eugenicist views.
As a result of Planned Parenthood’s dark past, continuing into the present, he said, “When we see a beautiful black face, abortionists call black and brown babies ‘weeds’.”
In 2012, an abortionist was caught on camera boasting that he spent his work days aborting “ugly black babies”.
“A shameful history” of racism
SPUC’s Michael Robinson, Executive Director (Public Affairs and Legal Services), said: “SPUC wants this year’s Race Equality Week to shine a light on the blatant racism of the abortion industry, currently covered in darkness.
“The abortion industry has a shameful history of targeting black babies, especially in the United States.
“A devastating 2016 study found that more black babies are aborted in New York City than are born. And a 2010 census recorded that 79 per cent of Planned Parenthood surgical abortion facilities are located within walking distance of African American or Hispanic communities.
“It is no surprise, then, that abortion is the number one killer of black lives in the United States. In 2014 alone, 259,366 Black Americans were aborted. A shocking figure.
“This racist and profoundly immoral targeting of black babies must stop. Until we have equality for the unborn, we will never have true equality in our society.”
