“Brew-tiful”: Pro-life coffee brand helps mothers hear their babies’ heartbeats for first time

Founded last November, Seven Weeks Coffee seeks to “connect the pro-life movement through coffee”. 10% of proceeds fund pro-life pregnancy centres where mothers hear their babies’ heartbeats for the first time.

“Will you allow your coffee to serve a greater purpose?” This is the question asked by Anton Krecic, founder of Seven Weeks Coffee – named after the week of gestation when an unborn baby is the size of a coffee bean.

Seven weeks is also around the time when a heartbeat may be detected for the first time.

Krecic’s company seeks to “promote Godly values, provide excellent coffee, and protect every beating heart”. Since the company’s founding, $2,800 has already been raised for pregnancy care centres.

“We’re a new business”, said Krecic, “but we’re already having a tangible impact, which is just amazing… We’re really creating a culture that uplifts people before profits… from the farmers who are getting paid legitimate and honest wages all the way to the moms who are getting a chance to hear their child’s heartbeat.”

Krecic knows the importance of helping women in crisis, especially at pregnancy centres with ultrasounds, “because that’s the No. 1 tool used for when women choose life for their babies”.

SPUC recently reported that around 11,000 babies have been saved following Texas’s “Heartbeat” Act, coming into force in September 2021, prohibiting abortion once an unborn child’s heartbeat is detected, as early as six weeks into pregnancy.

In 2020, 54,000 babies were aborted in Texas alone. 85% were aborted after six weeks of pregnancy.

SPUC comment

A SPUC spokesperson said: “Seven Weeks Coffee is a brew-tiful concept helping mothers take heart in the little beats of their unborn babies. Such outside-the-box thinking will ultimately save lives.

“Let’s show unborn babies a latte love!”
