The General Medical Council (GMC) has dismissed a case against a Christian doctor who risked his career to perform abortion reversals. SPUC has welcomed the decision as “just and correct”.
Dr Dermot Kearney, 56, was banned from assisting mothers in crisis pregnancies through abortion pill reversal treatment (APR) following a complaint by MSI Reproductive Choices. But the GMC has now dismissed the case against him.
Many mothers have been helped by Dr Kearney to reverse abortion decisions. Many lives were saved using progesterone pills commonly used to treat women with a history of miscarriage. A hearing challenging the ban was due to take place this week in the High Court.
Dr Kearney said: “I am relieved and delighted to have been exonerated. I have been the victim of a coordinated campaign by senior figures in the abortion industry who have been determined to prevent women in urgent need from accessing abortion reversal treatment.”
“Dr Kearney was our only friend”
Dr Kearney has performed abortion reversals for 65 mothers entirely for free, helping them reclaim their children from the abortion industry. So far, 32 babies’ lives have been saved. Despite this, Dr Kearney was almost struck off by the GMC.
Tellingly, not a single woman registered a complaint against Dr Kearney. Only MSI Reproductive Choices, formerly Marie Stopes, the abortion giant, complained.
One of the many mothers indebted to Dr Kearney’s life-saving treatment is Amrita Kaur.
Amrita, 26, panicked when she found out she was pregnant. She took an abortion pill at home after a telephone call with an abortion provider. “I did it in a moment of anger and upset… I’d just started to make some money from modelling and my friends said I had my whole life in front of me.”
Regretting her decision, Amrita turned to Dr Kearney after an internet search. “He was very understanding”, says Amrita. “I’ve never looked back. I adore my daughter.”
Her daughter, Ahri-Storm, is now a healthy baby of four months. Dr Kearney has “not done anything wrong”, says an overjoyed Amrita. “This treatment should be available to those who need it and want it.”
Amrita’s story is one of many. “Dr Kearney was our only friend”, another mother said.
Targeted by heinous abortion industry
Reflecting on his work, Dr Kearney said: “When I look at the babies, when I speak to the women and their partners, it brings tears to my eyes.
“None of the women I helped complained to the GMC, and none of the families either. The women themselves were all very grateful, even when it didn’t work. I struggle to understand why some people oppose this treatment.
“I’ve been the target of an orchestrated campaign by the abortion industry to stop pro-life doctors like me from offering abortion pill reversal treatment.”
His wife, Mary, added: “He is such a careful doctor, and so caring.” Dr Kearney worked at all hours to help women “in a desperate state”.
Dr Kearney’s care for mothers “beyond doubt”
SPUC’s Michael Robinson, Executive Director (Public Affairs & Legal Services), said: “SPUC welcomes this just and correct decision by the GMC, which found absolutely no wrongdoing or malpractice. Dr Dermot Kearney’s acquittal affirms the good work he has done to save lives and help mothers.
“Dr Kearney, a highly regarded consultant cardiologist and former president of the Catholic Medical Association, is a great friend of SPUC, most recently speaking at our Youth Conference. His dedication, professionalism and care for women is, indeed, beyond doubt.
“The fact that the GMC could not find a single complainant during its investigation speaks volumes. And the evidence of the sheer good Dr Kearney has done is clear enough in beautiful little Ahri-Storm and her elated mother, Amrita.
“As for the abortion industry, including MSI Reproductive Choices, the immense harm it has wreaked is measurably clear: 210,860 unborn children killed by abortion in England and Wales alone in 2020, and over 10,000 mothers hospitalised in 2020 after taking abortion pills at home.
“Where is the concern for these mothers and babies? Certainly, it is not to be found at MSI Reproductive Choices. That it attempted to destroy the career of a wonderful doctor saving babies’ lives just goes to show how hypocritical and heinous the shameless abortion industry is.”
