Pro-abortion activists in the United States have attacked a crisis pregnancy centre with red paint, eggs and graffiti. The Capitol Hill Pregnancy Center was descended upon by pro-abortion activists last Friday.
On 3 June, assailants vandalised the centre with red paint and wrote “JANE SAYS REVENGE”, in reference to Roe vs Wade, the 1973 Supreme Court ruling, now under threat, which legalised abortion in the United States.
The crisis pregnancy centre, in Washington, D.C., is run by a non-profit organisation offering help to women, men and families experiencing a crisis pregnancy.
As well as providing free pregnancy testing, the Capitol Hill Pregnancy Center offers childbirth classes, counselling and parental advice. It appears that the centre was targeted by pro-abortion activists because it does not provide abortion or refer mothers to such facilities.
Following the leak of an initial draft majority opinion indicating that the US Supreme Court is set to overturn Roe vs. Wade, pro-abortion activists have waged a campaign of intimidation directed at pro-life offices, judges and pregnancy centres.
Last month, the headquarters of one pro-life organisation, Wisconsin Family Action, was subjected to an arson attack. The pro-abortion attacker left graffiti on a wall. It read: “If abortions aren’t safe, then you aren’t either.”
SPUC comment
A SPUC spokesperson said: “The pro-abortion lobby is revealing its true colours as its vicious ideology now seems threatened in the US.
“Abortion is violence, violence against unborn babies and their mothers. We should not be surprised, then, when abortion apologists turn to violence and vandalism to intimidate pro-lifers.
“We can expect similar acts of extremism in the UK as well as in the US. Abortion apologists are becoming increasingly desperate to quash freedom of speech and pro-life initiatives that help mothers.
“But pro-lifers must not, and will not, be bullied into submission. Mothers, fathers and unborn babies are counting on us to defend the right to life and a world free from violence.”
