A pro-abortion militant has been charged with the attempted murder of a reportedly pro-life Supreme Court Justice, Brett Kavanaugh, in the United States. Pro-abortion violence in the US continues to intensify as pro-lifers and their families come under increasing threat.
Nicholas John Roske, 26, has been charged with attempting to assassinate Justice Brett Kavanaugh on Wednesday morning. Mr Roske, who was found carrying a gun and a knife, was arrested near the home of Justice Kavanaugh.
Roske later admitted to police that he was upset that the US Supreme Court appears set to repeal its 1973 Roe vs Wade ruling that legalised abortion throughout the nation.
Following an initial draft majority opinion leaked earlier this year, as reported by SPUC, revealing that Roe vs Wade might be repealed, pro-abortion violence and the picketing of the homes of reportedly pro-life Justices have become daily occurrences in the US.
This week, pro-abortion activists marched on the home of Justice Kavanaugh. Police stood between the home and the protesters.
Nine Justices sit on the US Supreme Court. Justices Neil Gorsuch, Amy Coney Barrett and Brett Kavanaugh, all selected by President Donald Trump, are said to have pro-life sympathies.
A few days ago, a pro-life office was firebombed in Buffalo, New York; while on 3 June, pro-abortion activists attacked The Capitol Hill Pregnancy Center in Washington, D.C.
SPUC comment
A SPUC spokesperson said: “Pro-abortion violence is escalating to dangerous levels in the United States as activists attempt to intimidate and even kill pro-life Supreme Court Justices.
“While pro-lifers are motivated by love, pro-abortion activists increasingly use violence to uphold the violent act of abortion, horrific violence that unborn babies and their mothers suffer daily.
“The attempted assassination of a Supreme Court Justice shows just how far some pro-abortion advocates are willing to go. While this is shocking, it is not surprising.
“We hope that justice and love ultimately prevail in the US, as well as in the UK and across the whole globe. Violence must not win.”
