Pro-abortion Democrats in the House of Representatives in the United States have declined a resolution condemning violence against pro-life pregnancy centres, churches and organisations.
Democratic leadership in the US House of Representatives this week refused to consider a Republican motion condemning recent violence against pro-lifers in the wake of the leaked initial draft majority opinion indicating that the US Supreme Court planned to overturn Roe vs Wade, which it did on 24 June – “a momentous day”, said SPUC.
Dozens of pro-life pregnancy centres, offering vital help to mothers and families in crisis pregnancies, have been vandalised and even firebombed by pro-abortion activists in recent months, including on 3 June, when The Capitol Hill Pregnancy Center in Washington, D.C. was attacked.
Reportedly pro-life Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh was also targeted for assassination by an activist, who was arrested and later charged.
Following the eruption of pro-abortion violence and intimidation in the US, Mike Johnson, a Republican member of the US House of Representatives, tabled a House Resolution “condemning the recent attacks on pro-life facilities, groups, and churches”.
The resolution called on the Biden Administration “to use all appropriate law enforcement to uphold public safety and to protect the rights of pro-life facilities, groups, and churches”.
But the Democratic, predominantly pro-abortion, leadership of the House refused to hear the resolution. “When will this body stand up against the mob?” Johnson exclaimed.
SPUC comment
A SPUC spokesperson said: “A pro-abortion mob has declared ‘open season’ on pro-lifers throughout the United States. The violence that has resulted, while shocking, is not surprising, since the act of abortion that it defends is a violent act that kills an unborn child.
“The inaction of Democratic leadership, refusing to condemn the pro-abortion mob, underwrites much of the mob’s abhorrent actions against pro-lifers, ordinary Americans who, motivated by love and compassion for mothers and their unborn babies, only seek to save lives.
“SPUC expects pro-lifers everywhere to be protected and allowed to continue their life-saving work.”
