Teen pro-life activist punched while campaigning before Kansas referendum on abortion

A female pro-life activist has reportedly been attacked while canvassing in Kansas before a referendum on the state’s abortion laws.

Grace Hartsock, a teenage student and pro-lifer, was punched in the face by an unknown woman while volunteering for Students for Life in America. Ms Hartsock was going from door to door to rally pro-life support for the upcoming vote on abortion laws in the US state of Kansas, as reported by SPUC.

Knocking on a door of one house, Ms Hartsock was turned away by a woman; but a second woman followed her. Students for Life reports that Ms Hartsock was then punched repeatedly in the head as well as told, “I hope you get raped… I hope you get run over by a car.”

Some of the attack was captured on Ms Hartsock’s phone. The local police department has been informed of the incident. The teenage pro-lifer has since experienced headaches and soreness.

The result of the Kansas referendum, which took place on Tuesday, declined to grant unborn babies protections under Kansas law.

Following the leaked initial draft majority opinion indicating that the US Supreme Court planned to overturn Roe vs Wade, which it did on 24 June, pro-abortion violence has rocketed. Dozens of pro-life pregnancy centres have been vandalised and firebombed, while pro-life Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh was targeted for assassination.

Last month, pro-abortion Democrats in the US House of Representatives declined a resolution condemning violence against pro-life individuals and groups, including pregnancy centres and churches.

SPUC comment

A SPUC spokesperson said: “Pro-lifers are still being targeted in the United States by an implicitly violent pro-abortion mentality that turns to violence as an answer to societal problems. Nothing good can come from this.

“The willingness of the pro-abortion lobby and its apologists, including politicians, to allow such wanton aggression to continue says much about their own lack of true principles.

“SPUC wishes Ms Hartsock a speedy recovery.”
