Dozens of Catholic churches and pro-life pregnancy centres were singled out for pro-abortion violence after the leak in May indicating that the US Supreme Court was to overturn Roe v Wade.
It has been reported that 69 Catholic churches have been burned or vandalised in the United States since May 2022, when it was made known that the US Supreme Court intended to overturn Roe v Wade, as it did in June.
There have also been 64 reported incidents of pro-abortion vandalism directed against pro-life pregnancy centres and organisations within the same period, with some offices even being firebombed by pro-abortion activists, including on 3 June when The Capitol Hill Pregnancy Center in Washington, D.C. was attacked.
Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, generally assumed to be pro-life, was targeted for assassination.
Despite the numerous incidents of violence in recent months, pro-abortion Democrats in the US House of Representatives in the United States declined a resolution condemning violence against pro-life pregnancy centres, churches and organisations.
SPUC comment
A SPUC spokesperson said: “In June, pro-abortion activists declared ‘open season’ on pro-lifers throughout the United States, including Catholic churches. Such violence is unacceptable but not surprising, especially given the similarly violent pro-abortion ideology such wanton viciousness upholds.
“Also at the root of such brutality is profound insecurity, however, as the pro-life cause in the United States gains ground, evident in the stunning overturning of Roe v Wade.
“Unfortunately, we can expect to see more pro-abortion violence and other extreme measures, in the US and elsewhere, including in the UK, as apologists for abortion increasingly lose their grip on their narrative.
“Pro-lifers must not be deterred, however. We must continue to advocate for unborn babies and their mothers. Violence must not win.”
