Catholic nuns have been abused by pro-abortion activists protesting outside New York’s St. Patrick’s Cathedral this week.
Pro-abortion provocateurs staged an “abortion carnival” outside of St. Patrick’s Cathedral on Monday in response to a planned 40 Days for Life meeting.
40 Days for Life is a noted anti-abortion organisation that campaigns against abortion across the world, including in the USA and UK.
Last Monday evening, pro-abortion protestors set up outside the Cathedral to intimidate pro-lifers and Catholics, including nuns. Two Catholic nuns exiting the Cathedral were subjected to vicious and bigoted profanities.
One pro-abortion activist shouted: “You should have been aborted if you go inside [the Cathedral]… Your mother should have aborted you!”
Pro-abortion chants of “Thank God for abortion”, “Save abortion, God” and “Pray, you’ll need it” were also heard.
40 Days for Life is currently holding prayer vigils outside abortion facilities in Scotland, beginning this week, which a spokesperson for one facility said will be “intimidating”, despite such vigils being peaceful and hoping to reach out to desperate mothers about to abort their children.
SPUC comment
A SPUC spokesperson said: “We are living in an upside-down world where prayerful vigil and loving offers of aid are deemed ‘intimidating’, despite potentially being able to save a life, while the shocking abuse of nuns and pro-lifers outside a cathedral is now essentially normalised.
“The vast majority of pro-lifers are peaceful citizens genuinely trying to help women and save lives. Pro-abortion activists, on the other hand, are showing their true colours as the various vile incidents of violence and purposeful intimidation increase in the USA and the UK.
“What people do and say to promote their cause says much about their rightness and true motivations. What happened on Monday in New York says much about abortion and its advocates.”
