Firefighters have been hailed as ‘heroic’ after coming to the aid of a pregnant mother in need, and helping deliver her premature baby girl.
The fire and rescue crew came to the rescue of a pregnant woman in New South Wales, Australia, who was giving birth three weeks early in a hotel.
Firefighter Roberto Gnecchi-Ruscone played a crucial role in the four-person crew assigned to this task, having recently finished a pediatric assessment refresher course just three days prior.
Upon the crew's arrival at the hotel, they were directed to an upstairs room where the mother was being attended to by two housekeepers and the hotel receptionist.
Roberto and his fellow firefighters exemplified their team's motto, "Prepared for Anything," swiftly springing into action. They also sought real-time guidance from paramedics through a collaborative first responder app.
Within minutes, the premature baby girl was delivered without any complications. The fire crew carefully placed the newborn, named "Deborah," with her mother before both were evaluated by ambulance paramedics and transported to hospital.
Both the mother and baby are reported to be in good health.
