The 2016 March for Life is taking place in Birmingham city centre on Saturday 14th May, exactly one month from today.

Speakers

Stephanie Gray, a Canadian pro-life leader who trains law students from around the world about conversing persuasively on abortion, will be one of the main speakers.

She is the author of A Physician’s Guide to Discussing Abortion and regularly trains medical students in pro-life apologetics. In 2015, she released a new book called Love Unleashes Life: Abortion & the Art of Communicating Truth.

Another headline speaker will be Ryan Bomberger, director of the Radiance Foundation. His biological mother was raped yet courageously chose to continue the pregnancy. His life defies the myth of the "unwanted" child as he was adopted, loved and has flourished.

A mother choosing life

The organisers behind the March for Life say that they know of at least one life saved directly by the annual event of pro-life witness.

As last year’s rally ended, a pregnant woman who had been out shopping approached them to explain that she hadn’t known what to do about her pregnancy as she had little support from her family. She added: "I know now, I'm keeping my baby" and later texted the organisers to thank them for their support.

2015

Last year’s rally saw many hundreds of pro-lifers, including a large number of young people and families, lighting up the city centre of Birmingham with joy and enthusiasm.

A small group of pro-abortion protestors tried (and failed) to disrupt the March for Life. One person who was there describes the scene:

"We had happened on a pro-choice protest just lying in wait to pounce upon the pro-lifers when they arrived. The funny thing was that as the pro-life march wound its way into the square, it did so with not really much regard for the pro-choice element who then spent the next hour or more trying to spoil proceedings.

"A very pleasant afternoon"

"They were deftly ignored ... the pro-choicers were held back by police, apart from one agitator who finally made an unsuccessful grab for the pro-life microphone, before being led away by a probably bored constable looking for something to do.

"It was a very pleasant afternoon of sun in Birmingham. The mood was always lighthearted, in spite of the angry protesters..."
