UN Human Rights Council passes pro-family resolution

The United Nations (UN) Human Rights Council has passed a resolution for the "Protection of the Family", despite opposition from the United States, the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland.

Patrick Buckley, representing SPUC at Geneva, described the vote as "truly historic".

The resolution recognises that "the family has the primary responsibility for the nurturing and protection of children." [SPUC, 26 June]
