[BBC, 6 July ] A child conceived through IVF has been born thirteen years after a brother and sister conceived at the same time.

Laina Beasley's parents originally had 12 embryos created through IVF and gave birth to two children in 1992.

The remaining 9 (one having been implanted but miscarried) were discovered to have been lost when it emerged that their specialist at the University of California fertility clinic had implanted clients' embryos into other women and sent others to be used for medical research.

Debbie Beasley commented: "To this day we still don't know what happened to those." The four surviving embryos were implanted and Laina survived to be born. [The Mirror, 7 July ]
