A US billionaire's wife's death could mean that millions of dollars are given to pro-abortion groups. Mrs Susan Buffett, wife of Mr Warren Buffett of Berkshire Hathaway Inc, was the head of the Buffett Foundation which regularly gave large donations to Planned Parenthood and other pro-abortion groups. Mrs Buffett requested before she died last month that her holdings in Berkshire Hathaway should also be directed to the foundation. In 2002 Berkshire Hathaway gave $11 million to many pro-abortion groups. [LifeNews.com, 12 August ] A study by researchers at the University College Medical School, London, England, has claimed that campaigners for better sex education among teenagers will be more effective if they targeted popular newspapers to get their message across. The report by Ms Patricia Kingori found that media coverage of sex education is more influential, and it is supported both by advocates and opponents. [Guardian Education, 12 August ] Mr Norman Wells of Family Education Trust told SPUC: "Despite the reliance of successive governments on sex education and contraceptive availability to address the problem of teenage pregnancy, teenage conception rates remain little different from what they were 30 years ago, while the incidence of sexually transmitted infections among young people has risen dramatically. Rather than admit that its message has failed to achieve its objectives and has in fact proved counterproductive, the sex education establishment refuses to concede defeat, preferring to put the blame on 'negative' articles in the tabloid press." A study carried out in Denmark has claimed that pregnant women who work late shifts were more likely to go into labour past their due date, and there is a risk that their babies will be smaller than average. Dr. Jin Liang Zhu and her colleagues at the University of Aarhus examined the work schedules during pregnancy of 40,000 women who gave birth between 1998 and 2001. Five years ago women's rights activists won their battle to have the pill widely available throughout Japan, but only 1.3 percent of Japanese women take it, compared to 15.6 percent of women in the U.S. [CNN.com,12 August ] An overweight woman and her unborn child have died due to complications from the mother's stomach stapling operation.
