Nine Hungarian hospitals have agreed not to perform abortions on the Day of the Unborn Child, the UN International Day of Life and the feast of the holy innocents, thanks to the efforts of the pro-life group Alpha Alliance and others who organised a pro-life procession and prayer vigil in Budapest last month. Press coverage of the event increased after a disgruntled radio reporter said that he would exterminate all Christians from Hungarian society. [Catholic World News, 7 January ] A television investigation is to be screened in the Isle of Man this evening looking at the euthanasia campaign on the island and public attitudes to euthanasia. The television company Border commissioned opinion polls and held a telephone poll of residents' views which will also be examined. [Isle of Man Online, 8 January ] A member of the Scottish parliament, Robin Harper, has raised concerns that toxic chemicals in the environment may be harming male fertility, after it was reported this week that sperm counts have decreased by 29% between 1989 and 2002.
