Calcutta Rescue runs medical, educational and support services to disadvantaged people in West Bengal.

In an email to SPUC in August 2015, a medical representative for the charity confirmed that Calcutta Rescue provides condoms and the oral contraceptive pill if they are not available from primary health centres.

It was also stated that "For MTP (medical termination of pregnancy) and Cu- T (in-uterine contraceptive device) mothers are referred to Family Planning Association of India. MTP with TL (tubal ligation) under 12 weeks is done free of cost. MTP with Cu-T and only MTP is chargeable."
