The Cleft Lip and Palate Association (CLAPA) provides support for people with cleft lip and palate, and their parents, from infancy through to adulthood.
In 2013, the charity supported a parliamentary inquiring into abortion on the grounds of disability lead by Fiona Bruce MP, chair of the All-Party Pro-Life Group. In a 2005 press release, the charity stated that "It would […] be difficult to justify a late termination solely on the grounds of a baby being diagnosed with a cleft lip and palate, since CLAPA does not consider the condition severe enough to constitute a 'serious handicap'."
