Individual MPs, not just party leaders, influence pro life issues, says leading pro life group SPUC

Individual MPs, not just party leaders, influence pro-life issues, says leading pro-life group SPUC London, - Voters should challenge their local Parliamentary candidates about how they will vote on abortion and embryo research, said SPUC.

The organisation was commenting after the second of the televised debates between Gordon Brown, David Cameron and Nick Clegg.

John Smeaton, SPUC director, commented: "Whichever party forms the next government, the defence of human life in parliament will rely on individual MPs voting pro-life and resisting pressure from party managers. Anyone concerned for the protection of human life should contact SPUC for information and resources to help them assess their local candidates. It is lamentable that these three party leaders support abortion and destructive embryo research, and don’t understand the true meaning of human sexuality. Their unanimity makes it all the more important that voters base their choice on how their local candidates promise to vote if elected to parliament."
