SPUC launches booklet in defence of Northern Ireland's pro life culture

SPUC launches booklet in defence of Northern Ireland's pro-life culture Newtownabbey, --The Society for the Protection of Unborn Children (SPUC) has launched Affirming a pro-life culture in Northern Ireland, a booklet which defends the predominantly pro-life ethos of Northern Ireland. Mrs Betty Gibson, chairman of SPUC in Northern Ireland, said: "The protection of unborn human life in Northern Ireland is something precious and distinctive and worth defending. Whatever our views on other political and religious issues, all sections of Northern Ireland's population can come together on the fundamental issue of the value of unborn human life. This booklet is an expression of that unity, as well as an indication of our concern." The booklet's preface describes Northern Ireland as the safest place in the UK to raise children. The booklet details the history and impact of 33 years of legalised abortion in Britain, and explains how every single unborn child killed by abortion is demonstrably human. It affirms that human life begins at conception, and warns against the many and varied attacks on the inherent dignity and worth of human life, both before and after the embryo implants in the womb. It also demonstrates how the inherent sanctity of human life is respected by the vast majority of Christians and by all the main world religions. The preface has been signed by Mr Nigel Dodds MP MLA of the Democratic Unionist Party and by Mr Danny O'Connor MLA of the Social Democratic&Labour Party.
