Our work would be impossible without the dedication and commitment of our supporters. We want to be completely transparent about our approach to asking people for this support that keeps us going.
Because we don’t take money from Government (not even Gift Aid), big business or political parties, we can retain our independence to speak up without compromise on behalf of the unborn and other vulnerable people.
That means we are completely dependent on the support of ordinary people who share our vision of a world where everyone - regardless of age, sex, colour, creed or political affiliation - enjoys a legal right to life. If we upset people by asking for funds in the wrong way, we jeopardise our vision for the future.
That's why we care about how we ask people for help raising funds. We have clear policies about not approaching young or vulnerable people, we monitor what’s done and we take swift action on the rare occasions when things don’t meet our standards. We may not get it right every time, but we’re constantly looking at ways to improve.
Our promise to supporters:
- We respect you and value your feedback: when you contact us you will be received in a friendly and helpful manner, and we encourage you to share your experience of SPUC with us.
- We protect your privacy and personal data: We never sell or swap your details, and we only call people who have expressed an interest in our work or agreed to be contacted by us (no 'cold' calls). We restrict the number of phone calls asking for money and always listen if it’s not a convenient time to speak. If you tell us you don't want to be contacted again, we don't contact you again.
- We put you in control: You are important to us and sharing stories is vital to our fundraising efforts and critical to delivering our life-saving work. We do this by sending you our information, newsletters, appeals and action alerts. You can change your email preferences at any time on this form, and you can unsubscribe from our regular emails at any time using the link at the bottom of the email you receive. If you have any other queries about the way we communicate with you, just give us a call.
- We are honest and accountable: If you are signed up to receive post and email from us, we will keep you informed about the work SPUC is doing, so that you can see how we're using your donations. We welcome you to contact us if you have any further questions.
We have a Privacy Policy that explains all this in more detail.
