Bishop Badejo is clear that better education, better healthcare and better amenities are the real solutions to the social problems which African women face - not abortion
African countries may have won independence from their political colonial masters in the 20th century, but a new type of colonialism is oppressing Africa today.
It is an oppression by wealthy Western countries which fund organisations such as International Planned Parenthood and Marie Stopes International to impose contraception and abortion on African women. This new colonialism is attacking the values and families of African people.
"Aggressive elements of the culture of death"
In an exclusive interview with the Society for the Protection of Unborn Children, Bishop Emmanuel Badejo of Oyo Diocese, Nigeria speaks of the "aggressive elements of the culture of death" which are bearing down on his own country and other African countries too. Western organisations which are promoting abortion and contraception in Africa are either "ignorant of who Africans really are" or they are showing "deliberate disrespect for African women", says Bishop Badejo.
Bishop Badejo is clear that better education, better healthcare and better amenities are the real solutions to the social problems which African women face. He says that it is a "great injustice" when Western nations come and say "the way Africans live their lives, the values they believe, the faith we have in God" is no longer acceptable. And, says Bishop Badejo, they don't even try to hide this agenda any more. Aid and grants are linked to what the bishop describes as "non-values". Weak African governments accept these huge sums of money and in doing so compromise the values of their people.

Culture of Life Africa
Obianuju Ekeocha, founder of Culture of Life Africa also speaks out against the "ideologically distorted" organisations which are driving up abortions in her native Nigeria and across Africa. These groups she says are "just as colonial as the political colonials" who used to rule over Africa.
Abortion is promoted by western groups and governments under the euphemistic title of SRHR (sexual and reproductive health and rights). Yet Obianuju Ekeocha says that "most African languages do not have a way of sugar-coating abortion or making it look like anything positive".
DfID, IPPF and abortion
Abortion is fundamentally alien to the African people. Far from being a solution, offering abortion to Africans is "a problem for us", says Obianuju.
The UK's Department for International Development (DfID) runs partnerships with organisations such as International Planned Parenthood Federation and Marie Stopes International, funding their activities to promote and provide abortion. British taxpayers have effectively become, once more, colonial masters in Africa.
