Video tribute to SPUC Pro-Life Prayer Chain

SPUC has released a video tribute to all those who took part in the SPUC Pro-Life Prayer Chain on Monday 27 April 2020. As people were unable to take part in the annual roadside witness, over 1,000 people took part in a prayer chain from their own homes.

“The response to the SPUC Pro-Life Prayer Chain was tremendous”, said Antonia Tully, Director of Campaigns for SPUC. “Prayer united SPUC on 27 April 2020, the anniversary of the implementation of the 1967 Abortion Act. Prayer continues to unite SPUC supporters up and down the country during the lockdown. Thank you so much to everyone who took part.”

The prayer chain spread far and wide. SPUC’s Huddersfield Branch gathered in people from Hull, Leeds, Bradford, Halifax and Dewsbury to take part in the prayer chain.

Zenofy Sobanski, Chair of the Huddersfield branch of SPUC said: “The number of prayer participants were 85 persons, plus a Hull prayer group and nuns from Tyburn.

“We started the prayer chain from 7 am and continued till 9 pm. What was pleasing in the organizing was the willingness of people to participate from their own homes.”

At the other end of the country, the Folkestone, Hythe and Dover Branch organised pro-lifers to pray in hourly slots from 7am til 9pm.

Branch Chair, Philippa Forsdike said: “As the nation naturally recoils in horror, grief and sadness at the loss of thousands of lives daily to COVID-19; we must also remember the 500 babies a day lost to abortion. I felt in unison with our other branches.”

Antonia Tully said: “SPUC supporters have also responded magnificently to our campaigns to stop DIY abortions and to protest the new abortion regime in Northern Ireland. As we pray for an end to the pandemic and for all lives lost to Covid-19, we never forget the plight of unborn babies and their mothers.”
