A pro-life SPUC supporter who has a son with Down’s syndrome has spoken out in favour of Poland’s recent ruling which banned abortion for disability.
Angela Mui said: “You may have seen that people in Poland are protesting over a new court ruling to do with abortion. One thing you may not know is this ruling upheld human rights for the disabled, protecting unborn babies with disabilities from discriminatory abortion – babies like my son.”
Nationwide protests from pro-abortion advocates have erupted in Poland following the announcement of the ruling. SPUC has reported on how Catholic communities across Poland have been attacked by some of the protestors.
The protests over Poland’s ruling have spread to this in the country with pro-abortion Poles and others demonstrating outside the Polish Embassy in London and outside the Scottish Parliament in Edinburgh.
Speaking out in defence of the right to life of children like her son, Mrs Mui said:
“These unborn children are equally human and have equal dignity to any other child. It makes me proud to see the courts in Poland upholding this important principle – and recognising the unique worth and dignity of people like my son.
“These extreme protests are distracting from the true message of these abortion activists – that they think that people with disabilities do not have an equal right to life.
“Please share to show your support for this new court ruling – and encourage the Polish Government to stay strong in protecting the lives of the vulnerable.”

How you can support Poland
SPUC has launched an initiative encouraging pro-lifers to add their name to a pro-life message to the Polish Government.
Michael Robinson, SPUC Director of Communications said: “Now is the time for the pro-life community in the UK to show solidarity with Poland in defence of unborn babies.
“Poland is rejecting the eugenic practice of eliminating disabled unborn babies and giving their weakest citizens a chance to life. Let’s stand with Poland in building a culture of life.”
