Police officers have spread Christmas joy to the young patients staying in Lady Cilento Children's Hospital over Christmas.
The Police officers from Brisbane arrived in the hospital dressed in Santa hats and carrying sacks full of toys. They were met with smiles, excitement and laughter from the young children and their families.
The surprised children were treated to toys, stickers, colouring books and a variety of handmade gifts.
The visiting police officers were still required to wear their uniforms. However, in keeping with the festivities, they were able to dress their uniforms up with tinsel and Santa hats.
Acting Senior Constable Vrinda McCauley who began the Christmas visits in 2017 said: “We saw lots of smiles and laughs from not only the sick children but also their siblings and parents.
“With Christmas only around the corner, it is important to bring joy into the lives of those who may not be home on this special day.
“A special mention needs to go out to all the amazing volunteers at local craft groups who have hand-made all the teddies - without you none of this would have been possible.
“On behalf of all the police elves that were here with me today and the Capalaba police, we wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a safe new year.”
