A courageous mum from Norwich who defied doctor’s orders to abort her baby ten times, will celebrate Christmas with her daughter, Miyah.

Chloe Conlin, aged 21, refused to give up on her daughter after a 20-week pregnancy scan revealed that her child had a fatal heart defect. Doctors told Ms Conlin that her child would live for less than one year.

Ms Conlin said: “When I was pregnant they told me to have an abortion over ten times because they said she wouldn't be compatible with life, it would be a real struggle.”

Brave Ms Conlin could not give up on her daughter and she refused abortion. Baby Miyha was born with a heart defect in Norwich University Hospital and had open heart surgery at Great Ormond Street Hospital in London.

Ms Conlin said: “She’s been doing really well. She’s got another {surgery} coming up in the next couple of years and that will be her last surgery that they can do for her.  Then after that, it will be to see how far she can actually go. They can’t fix her here, they can only help her live longer, so it’s palliative care.”

Baby Miyah will celebrate her first Christmas at home with her mum and family.
