New parents have praised an app that allows them to stay connected to their premature baby who is being treated in hospital.
Baby Barbara was born prematurely at 27 weeks old and had to undergo multiple hospital transfers and surgeries.
Proud parents Jenny and John from Hastings have praised an app as “amazing” as it helps them to stay connected to their “precious” daughter while she is being cared for in hospital.
The app, VCreate, allows a video messaging service so Barbara’s family can keep up to date with her progress. The app even allows families to record themselves reading stories to their baby. Barbara’s sister, Jenny, has recorded herself reading a bedtime story which is played for baby Barbara in the hospital.
Mum Jenny said: “As we don’t live close to the hospital, we rely on public transport to visit Barbara, which has been especially difficult over the past few months.
“The app has been a brilliant way for us to see Barbara and check in on her progress.
“She also has seven siblings so they’ve loved being able to see photos of her as she grows, as they’ve not been able to see her in person yet.”
SPUC comment
A SPUC Spokesperson said: “In the current climate we know how difficult it can be for people to travel. We are thrilled that innovative apps exist that help families and loved ones stay connected in these challenging times.”
