A-list actress and comedian Melissa McCarthy has hailed the work of abortion giant Planned Parenthood, claiming that it does “superhero work". Michael Robinson, SPUC Director of Communications, said: “Planned Parenthood intentionally and directly kills defenceless unborn children. It appears Ms McCarthy has a very warped understanding of what 'superhero work' truly entails.”
During an interview with Panned Parenthood’s CEO, Alexis McGill Johnson, McCarthy, who is best known for her leading roles in Bridesmaids and The Heat, expressed her pro-abortion views.
Showering the CEO of Planned Parenthood with praise, McCarthy said: “I can’t believe that you even have time to sit and do this. The whirlwind which must be your everyday life, and the superhero work that you guys are doing — is it 24 hours?”
Planned Parenthood kills an average of one baby every 89 seconds. The abortion giant recently released its annual report for 2019-2020, showing that their abortion procedures were at a record high in the USA.
SPUC’s Mr Robinson added: “Sadly, Ms McCarthy is not the only prominent figure to seek to cover Planned Parenthood in glory. During 2020, at the height of the Coronavirus pandemic we saw actress Sarah Silverman, dedicate her ‘clap for carers’ to abortionists who were still managing to kill unborn children amidst global lockdowns.
“It is truly despicable when elitist celebrities hail the work of global abortion giants, with no regard for the defenceless lives lost, or the suffering and long-lasting damage it has inflicted on so many women and families.”
“It’s not heroic to kill children”
The comment from McCarthy is not the first occasion when killing unborn children has been called heroic.
Earlier this year, SPUC reported on how Planned Parenthood became the centre of praise for pro-abortion advocates around the globe on "Abortion Provider Appreciation Day", 10 March. Planned Parenthood released a statement on social media claiming: “Abortion providers give every patient what they deserve… they are heroes.”
Similarly, Marie Stopes, which on average kills 4.8 million unborn children each year, has recently stated on social media that they believe themselves to be equal to the healthcare workers battling to protect people from COVID-19.
In a distasteful social media statement, Marie Stopes International posted a picture of a celebratory cake and stated: “Although they don't wear capes, our MSI providers are superheroes. In the midst of a pandemic, they're working hard to save lives and empower women.”
However, the statement was met by a strong social media backlash. One social media user hit back at Marie Stopes, saying: “Abortion providers who think that their work is 'heroic' are 'an insult to actual healthcare workers who are saving lives, not ending lives'."
