Pro-life ambassador and former foster care child crowned Mrs. Universe

Victoria Petersen, whose mother decided not to abort her as a baby and who entered foster care at the age of 12 and went on to become a pro-life ambassador, has been crowned Mrs. Universe. Mrs. Petersen now uses her platform to defend life and improve the foster care system in the United States.

“Abortion isn’t the solution to suffering children”, says Petersen.

“My mom always says that when she saw me with my hands resting beneath my head as a baby on the ultrasound, she knew she loved me and would give birth to me…

“Because of her choices, I am now a woman who spends her time passionately advocating to eliminate the suffering of those in the womb and in foster care…

“I’m so grateful my mom chose life.”

As a teenager, Petersen was adopted by running coach Scott Wichman, whose family became her own. At her wedding, Wichman walked her down the aisle.

Petersen and her husband, Jacob, are foster parents themselves. She also works for America’s Kids Belong, which helps deliver orphans to good foster parents.

SPUC comment

A SPUC spokesperson said: “It is awe-inspiring to see a young woman promote the importance of valuing life both in the womb and outside it.

“As Petersen says, rightly, death is not the solution to the problems of life, specifically foster care.

“Given the choice between life and death, Petersen knows that choosing life is the only true loving act. She and her husband have put this into practice themselves, following the stellar example of her adoptive father.

“What a wonderful thing it is to see such a fine woman use her platform to communicate this fundamentally pro-life message.

“Congratulations to Mrs. Petersen and her family.”
